This Beef Builder "Beginner" has 5/8" handles to increase the range of motion and build your finishing strength. With an adjustment this gripper fits into our Beginner II level on the GSS scale. If you are new to "beyond the range" gripper training we would advise you to start here so you can ease into it.

A Word About 5/8" Handle Grippers
The purpose of 5/8" handle grippers (standard handle grippers are all around 3/4") is to increase the range of motion at the bottom of the close to build your finishing strength. For years the hard core grip guys have shaved the inside of the handle to accomplish this same thing. Now, the father of heavy duty hand grippers, Warren Tetting, is building 5/8" handle grippers so you don't have to mess with this yourself, and it looks better too! It's been our experience that the smaller handle grippers require about 10% more force to close. We use a multiplier to adjust the manufacturer's rating (which is based on a standard handle gripper) to fit the GSS Ranking scale.
